Mongolia is to Employ Work Force from North Korea

At the submission of the Government of Mongolia, the Parliament ratified Mongolia-North Korea Inter-governmental Agreement on exchanging work forces on the 20th of July, 2007. According to the Agreement, Ministry of Social Welfare and Labor of Mongolia is to negotiate in the near future with Foreign Trade Ministry on realizing the agreement and exchange of work force, especially number and need of work force, the minimum wage /by USD/, labor conditions /normal and abnormal/, social welfare /social insurance/ and therefore those interested in employing North Korean wok force in 2009 should formulate their TORs accurately as well as submit them to the MSWL within 23 July. Currently orders should be submitted on the basis of position vacancy since number of workers is not specified yet.

Mongolia Ranks at 81 for Its Press Freedom

Freedom house center informed that press freedom had been getting smaller in recent 6 years. They presented the survey on world press freedom in 2007 to the public. 195 countries, involved in the survey, had been classified into free, half-free and closed in terms of press freedom. As usual eastern countries led the list of countries with press freedom. However, Portugal, Malta and Turkey stepped back.
Countries, which oppress press freedom, include North Korea, Cuba, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus and Zimbabwe. This time, Mongolia, Chernogor and East Timor ranked at 81 together.

In other words, Mongolia is a country of half-press freedoms. According to the international journalists’ website, about 3000 journalists and correspondents of Mongolia is to organize a gathering on occasion of the press freedom day to express their opposition against criminal law clause, which is a ground for 6months to 2 years imprisonment of journalists. Russia has been included in countries that are harmful to journalists, while Beijing ranks at 163.

New Ambassadors Express Integrity, Responsibility, and Confidence

Yesterday, Prime Minister S.Bayar held a meeting with newly appointed ambassadors that A.Battur to Belgium, S.Khurelbaatar to North Korea, O.Ochirjav to Turkey, and discussed about foreign policy issues. Ambassadors will depart to their countries soon. During the meeting, prime minister stated that: “In recent years, government policy to diplomatic mission has been tending to build a more professional service. Before that, as we knew, political influence was too strong. Foreign affairs of our country is really important. Ambassadors’ role in this relations also must be serious. Then, if you have any new ideas, policy recommendations, contact me directly.” In the end, ambassadors expressed their strong commitment to improve Mongolia’s external relations.
