Perhaps, there was a hope that the most senior management officer or the CEO will be appointed from the Mongolian nationals. BM research team had a confidence that Bold Baatar will succeed Cameron McRae to ease the current tension. Also, it was speculated that he will contribute to soften the current dispute between the government and Rio Tinto. But, in the end, Craig Kinnell, Chief Marketing Officer of the Rio Tinto Copper Group was appointed to succeed the previous CEO.
After, Bold Baatar was appointed as a president of the Copper Group, many believed that it is a strategic move from Rio Tinto. Was the former JP Morgan banker unskilled to take over the job or Rio Tinto felt that it will not be for their best interest to appoint him at OT LLC?
According to OT LLC’s press release, Craig Kinnell holds MBA from Cranfield University School of Management in Bedford, England. He has since gone on to hold a number of senior management positions including Managing Director, Rio Tinto Uranium and Senior Vice President, Rio Tinto Iron and Titanium.
BM research team is working on publishing possible solutions for the current dispute. The editorial will be sent out to our subscribed readers.
