Minister for Mineral Resources and Energy D.Zorigt visited Dornod province last week and visited few mines and power stations in the province. He has seen the activities of the many independent power stations and coal mines. Minister Zorigt met with N.Shatar, Director of Aduunchuluun mine. N.Shatar said that the open pit mining reserve of the Aduunchuluun mine has been greatly reduced. So now they are exploring operation from another company’s area. They have made an agreement with a company called Niangi, making it possible to explore output from that company’s area with a special license.

Aduunchuluun was established as a sub-surface coal mine on the outskirts of Choibalsan in 1954 by the Mongolian Government. The company has been supplying coal to Choibalsan thermal power plant, various state enterprises, private enterprises and individuals. Aduunchuluun is expected to explore 420000 tons of coal this year to supply Dornod.
