The Standing Committee on Economics reported on the implementation policies of the State on railway transport. Cost of building the railways for Tavan Tolgoi is not clear as cost of 1km of railway is not determined. According to international experiences in Central Asia, the cost of 1km railway is 2.7 million USD and the cost will be worked out in earlier June.
The railway technique and economic justification will be ready in early July but works are being carried out according to planned design. All 6 shortlisted bidders for Tavan Tolgoi have stated that they will invest hugely in infrastructure or the railway.
Each consortium is ready to invest USD 1.5 billion in Tavan Tolgoi railway project says Kh.Battulga, Minister for Road, Transport, Construction and Urban development.
The Korean Consortium stated that their advantage is the sea-port which will be available for use if they win the tender bid. If they win the tender bid, USD 2.5 billion will be invested in infrastructure says the Russian Consortium. The Russians also showed interest in cooperating with Korean and Japanese consortium of companies.
