Areva to build uranium mining factory in Dornogovi province

It has been 10 years since France-based Areva group started their mining operation in Mongolia. In 2009, Mongolia and France agreed to cooperate on developing uranium exploration during the official visit of Prime Minister S.Batbold. On October 6, 2009, Areva group and Mongolian Nuclear Energy Authority signed an agreement during the visit of Anne Lauvergeon , Chief Executive of Areva Group. Areva group’s main exploration was based in Dornogovi, Sukhbaatar province. As a result, Areva started its trial exploitation in Dornogovi province. In order to enhance its operation, Areva is planning to build a small-sized factory in 2-3 years, in Dornogovi province.

Julien Babey, Managing Director for Areva Mongol, which is established in 1997. Areva-group is state-owned French company, and Japanese Mitsubishi group owns 34%.
