Board of “Centerra Gold” has changed
Board of Centerra Gold Company is changed and Mr. Almangeld Muraliyev, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyz, Mr. Karybek Ibraev, representing “Kyrgyzaltyn” state owned company, and Mr. Rafael Girard was appointed from the Canadian side. Centerra owns Kumtor gold deposit, a world class gold mine, together with the Government of Kyrgyz. Hereby, the newly established Government of Kyrgyz strengthens its positions in one of the important projects for the state budget. 15-16 tons of gold is exported annually and children of former presidents Akaev, Bakiev owned share at this projects.
It even offered interest at Boroo Gold in Mongolia and further sharing its interest at American projects with Kyrgyz, when the Government of Kyrgyz was studying legal groundings to take back Kumtor gold deposit from Cameco Company of Canada. Eventually, Cameco Corp. secured its interest at Kumtor through Centerra Gold and Kyrgyz Government received 16% interest at Kumtor. But, last year, Kyzgyz side increased its interest at Kumtor buying more when Cameco sold its share of Centerra Gold.
