The U.S Deputy Secretary of State Mr. James Steinberg pays a working visit to Mongolia today in frames of his visits to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Japan. The Deputy Secretary of State Mr. James Steinberg serves as the first assistant to the U.S Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He took his post of the Deputy Secretary of State on January 28, 2009 in accordance with a proposal from the U.S President Barack Obama.

He worked previously as the Dean of the Lyndon B.Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin in 2006-2009. James Steinberg was born in 1953 in Boston city, MA, USA. He graduated the Phillips Academy in 1970, the University of Harvard (1973), and the Yale Law School (1978). In 1993-1994, Mr. Steinberg worked as an assistant to the deputy secretary of the State Department, in 1994-1996–as a director of the Human Resource and Policy Planning Department of the State Department, 1996-2000–as an assistant advisor to the United States National Security under U.S. President Bill Clinton. He also represented the U.S President to the meetings of the G-8 in 1998 and 1999.
