The meeting of leaders of the political parties and the President were held once in 2006 and 2007 and twice in 2008. This annual meeting of leaders of political parties that have seats in Parliament has been held at the initiative of N.Enkhbayar, President of Mongolia. S.Bayar, PM and chairman of the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party, D.Lundeejantsan, head of the MPRP, G.Batkhuu, Vice speaker of the Parliament, D.Enkhbat, leader of the Green party and other leaders of the parties were at present.
Leaders of all the parties have expressed their views on the current problem which is the economic recession. The Civil Will Party stated that deposit of Tavantolgoi and Oyutolgoi are the solution to the crisis. Most Parties have agreed to the point ‘should overcome the economic crisis with minimum losses’ which was made by the Chairman of MPRP.
The attendees at the meeting backed the President N.Enkhbayar’s proposal to hold the more than once a year and also political parties with no seats in the Parliament to take part as there are many issues concerning the mining, economic and financial sectors. The President will host the next meeting in March 2009, to discuss the issues concerning the uranium extraction and other urgent problems such as developing the country as a whole.
