Pure Water Resource in Asian Countries Comes to an End in 10 Years
The United Nations have announced every March 22 of each year as the World Day of “Water protection”. In prior to this event, Mongolian Green party informed the journalists yesterday on proper use of water. They warn that rivers were polluted and pure water shortage is in scene due to illegal activities of those in power. According to the research of scientists, pure water resource in Asian countries comes to an end by the year 2018. Thus it is said that the state should attach attention on drinking water instead of giving strategic significance to minerals. Due to lack of proper policy on using pure water reserve, rivers and lakes are polluted much. Water, soil and air have been polluted by dirty water from industries, disposals and chemical substances. Water pollution, resulted by disposal of over 300 million m3 water into rivers and soil, bring pollution of water resource, leading to a disaster that might weaken national security. Khubsgul Lake was mentioned as a clear example of water pollution that there have been oil and fuel spots as well as other litters and garbage floating in its water. Moreover, it was noted that water of Kharaa and Yuruu rivers have been polluted with chemical poisons. Because of polluted water, incidence of infectious disease has increased. As a result of examination on sample from 22 minerals near Ulaanbaatar, pollution, exceeded accepted level many times, has been detected. According to water census of the last year, more than 700 rivers dried up. On one hand, it is resulted by negative human activities and on the other, by melting glaciers and snow peaks of mountains in recent years. If this condition lingers on, hydro power stations will not operate. It is said that inability of Mongolian people to use pure water is a phenomenon of violating Human rights convention and Law on Water. A person uses only 4-8 liters water a day, which is only 5 percent of water a person should use. In this regard, Mongolian Green Party ran a research on availability of water supply in 600 household in Bayanzurkh District. 20 percent of respondents replied that they have bath once per week. Therefore, Mongolian Green Party warns the state to run right policy on using water and water sources properly.
