Mongolia’s Democrats stage parliamentary walkout
Radioaustralia reports that,
Lawmakers from Mongolia’s Democratic Party walked out of the newly elected parliament just before they were to be sworn in.
They were protesting the results of the June 29 national election and the deadly riots that followed in its aftermath.
The party says it wants several of its demands met before it will return to parliament.
It wants to know the circumstances of the shooting deaths of five people during the riots, which followed its allegations that the Mongolia People’s Revolutionary Party stole the election.
It wants the 200 prisoners in jail since the riots released, and the election results in several constituencies that have not yet been announced made known.
