Last week, the consultative meeting in improving investment environment and developing private sector of Mongolia was held at the Government House of Mongolia. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister S.Bayar, the Chairman of the Consultative Council, and Mr. Varel Freeman, the Vice President of European Reconstruction Bank and representatives from private sector of Mongolia and Ambassadors of USA and Japan and Representatives of International Organizations attended the meeting.

During the meeting the merchants and trading companies shared their problem. For example, there are so many documents are required to import or export products and need to submit the request by him or herself. There are also many repeated or similar documents needed for clearance. Basically, the clearance work is so reluctant for merchants and trading companies. Prime Minister S.Bayar is also well informed about the border port of Zamyn Uud and its railway and road transportation problems.

At the end of the meeting, there were some constructive decisions such as introducing one window online clearance service and eliminating all the difficulties at Zamyn Uud port and upgrading infrastructure. These tasks are given to Minister S.Bayartsogt and Mr. D.Sugar, the Chairman of the State Property Committee.

At the end of the meeting Ambassadors are expressing their gratefulness for allowing an opportunity to convey their messages and comments from the private sector. They also expressed their belief to establish consultative meeting as a “bridge” between Government and private sector.
