Marubeni expressed its interest in uranium exploitation

Prime Minister S.bayar received Mr. Kokubu, Vice President of Marubeni Corporation. In the last October, during the Mongolia-Japan joint consultative meeting of Government and private sector, Mr. Ishige, Vice Minister for Economy, Commerce and Industry of Japan, expressed its interest in investing and cooperating in uranium sector.
According to this proposal, Mr. Kokubu, Vice President of Marubeni Corporation is visiting to Mongolia. They expressed their interest in uranium exploration and exploitation in Gurvanbulag uranium deposit in Dornod aimag. Prime Minister S.Bayar expressed his support of the initiatives of Japanese side in uranium development and noted that both sides are needed to determine their cooperation direction, developing documents and start the negotiation. Also he emphasized that legal coordination is required in mining sector of Mongolia especially in uranium sector.
He also expressed the interest of the Government of Mongolia to receive pre-payments after the pre-condition of the projects is formed, without waiting for the completion of the mining factory and profitability.
Mr. Kokubu introduced about the willingness of Marubeni to introduce model and experience of its ongoing uranium project in Kazakhstan, introduce high end technology of Japan, to assist Mongolia to train national professionals, to choose the well know operator in the world and to ensure the multiparty involvement.
Prime Minister S.Bayar said that the Government of Mongolia will closely study the proposal and project of Marubeni Corporation.
