E.Zorigt: D.Enkhbat, head of the Green Party will be a candidate

Posted by Badrakh On February - 2 - 2009

Interview: E.Zorigt, head of external relations department of the Green Party

Q: How would Green Party participate in this year’s Presidential election, have you finalized your situation?

E.Zorigt: We have decided to take part in this election but official conference is yet to take place to finalize everything.

Q: When will the final decision be made?

E.Zorigt: A conference will be held soon. We will look back and discuss about the election of State Great Khural and local self government because those elections has just finished for us. This will give us a better idea in the Presidential election. We are also planning to propose a new law agreement on nature and ecology.

Q: Who will be candidate from the Green Party?

E.Zorigt: Of course it will be D.Enkhbat, head of the Party. He has not made up his mind yet, there is a little hesitation from him and it is not the deadline yet to name a candidate officially. We have got our first seat in the Parliament after nearly 10 years and I think it is beneficial to take part in the Presidential election. His concern is that we have to be more active as a Politics Party with a seat in the Parliament, taking part in the Presidential election will boost the popularity of the Green Party but this is not the main reason of getting involved with the Presidential election. I hope D.Enkhbat will not reject this but if he does, it is his own right to do so.

Q: Your party took part in the State Great Khural’s election as a civilized union. Are you planning to coalesce with others for this election?

E.Zorigt: At the moment we have not discussed or thought about coalescing but in my opinion Green Party is not required to unite with others for this election.

    Question for E. Zorigt.

When will there be more information pertaining to the OYU TOLGOI mining agreement.
Will it be presented this week to the GSK? As previously indicated.

Thank You for keeping investors informed.

  2. Amarsanaa says:

This Zorigt is not Minister Zorigt. He is Green Party Department Head. Minister Zorigt is from Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party, ruling party.

Green Party has one seat first time ever in its history. So it is minority in the parliament

I try to convey this question to Minister Zorigt.
