Social security and Ministry of labour are working together to accomplish hourly working scheme for youths and students. They held a meeting under the title – ‘hourly working scheme and labour supervision for foreigners’. Management teams and representatives of over 20 work provider firms took part in this meeting.
National security and Ministry of Labour will set the wage at 108 thousand MNT per month which means minimum of 650 MNT per hour if divided by the 168 of working hours per month. Work provider firms are unable to make working contracts with the workers and also don’t have the right to set the wages of their workers.
They are researching into this scheme and believe it will encourage and increase domestic labour. Number of Foreign workers working in Mongolia is increasing significantly. In the year 2002, five thousand foreign workers were employed but this number is now increased up to 37 thousand. 86.6% of the workers are from China, 3.0% are from Russia and 2.0% are from South Korea. Most of these workers are currently working the in the construction and mining sector in Mongolia.
