Kh.Battulga, Minister for Road, Construction and Infrastructure is paying official visit to Japan on 19-22 of this month with an invitation from Japanese Foreign Minister Matsumoto. Minister Kh.Battulga met with A.Ohata, Minister for land, infrastructure, transport and tourism and signed memorandum on cooperating on infrastructure.
Ts.Elbegdorj, President of Mongolia visited Japan last November and stated that cooperation between the two countries should be improved in terms of strategic partnership. The Ministries of the two countries exchanged opinions on that matter. As a result of the meeting, the Mongolian Ministry of roads, construction and infrastructure and Japanese Ministry of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism have signed memorandum.
The Ministries agreed to cooperate on all frames of the infrastructure sector. These includes: importing Japanese technologies to Mongolia, training workforce in Japan, using of seaports and increasing air flights between the two countries. The Japanese side expressed its interest in cooperating with the mining sector and to carefully work with the railways, seaports and Mongolian Airlines (MIAT). After signing the infrastructure agreements, both parties agreed to have an annual meeting. Mongolia invited Japanese officials to come to Mongolia for the first meeting.
