Only foreign citizens will have access to limited casinos

MP D.Zagdjav, D.Batbayar proposed draft law on Limited Casino to Speaker D.Demberel. Casino business is soaring around the world and our two neighbours are allowing limited casinos in certain zones and areas. Neighboring regions of our neighbor countries don’t have any casinos or gambling centers, which allows Mongolia to flourish such businesses. Law initiators believe that it will contribute to the Mongolian economy and revenue.

One percent of casino income will be collected into the “Good Will” Foundation, a social welfare fund. The casino is only open to foreign nationals and the Government of Mongolia will own certain part of the casino.

After the outbreak of umbilical infection disease the standing committee on social policy set up a working group and got au fait with the operations of the maternity hospitals number 1, 2 and 3.

The working group presented its report on Tuesday at the standing committee’s meeting. Although the health budget has been increasing year after year due to the inefficient policy and regulations not much attention has been given toward maternity hospitals’ issues which eventually caused the outbreak of the disease, according to the working group. License required to sell tobaccos

Private entities and shops will be required to get a special license for trading cigarettes, stated the Citizens’ Representative Assembly of UB. ADRA Mongolia and the Department of Law of UB Governor’s Office signed a cooperation agreement to cut the consumption of cigarettes among the population, and especially among the youth.

In the scopes of the cooperation the Capital Council released a regulation that states about setting certain controls on cigarettes. Accordingly private entities and shops will need special licenses to sell cigarettes. Read the rest of this entry »

The Government promised to decrease air pollution by 50%

But in doing so it will spend ₮180 billion in next seven years

When the budget, fighting against air pollution in Ulaanbaatar City, increase, smoke in City increase accordingly. Mongolia ranks No1 in the world with its air pollution. Last Friday, the Government debriefing was held at SGK’s Government hour on Resolution No 46 of the State Great Khural on decreasing air pollution in Ulaanbaatar City.

According to the GSK regulation, minority representatives should question the Government, but other MPs took the challenge and made many questions.

MP N.Ganbyamba: I understood that many people are in charge of this big issue, but zero result. In the report, it says that ₮6.2 billion is already spent for this purpose. Man died from serious pneumonia had H1N1 virus

41 year old instructor machinist at the Office of Railway was hospitalized on the 19th of October. He was being treated for serious pneumonia but died after two days of treatment. Dissection on the body showed that he was positive of H1N1 virus. Ministry of Health officially reported the first case of H1N1 virus death. The victim’s pneumonia was at life threatening situation when the treatment started says the hospital officials. There were some suspicion of H1N1 virus but the result of the test arrived on the 22nd which is after the death of the victim. H1N1 tests were carried out at the Office of Railway and currently no one is detected with the virus according to J.Tsolmon, Deputy Minister for Health.

53.7 thousand Children steps into secondary schools

53.7 thousand 6 year olds have started secondary schools this year domestically. The first lesson that the schools thought was under the topic “My Ulaanbaatar” as it is the 360th year anniversary of the capital. Statistics shows that children enrolling into secondary schools in the Capital have increased compared to other schools, which shows that movement of people into the city is increasing. 32.9 thousand Children of the total 53.7 thousand are enrolling outside the capital whereas 20.7 thousand 6 years olds are enrolling in the Capital.

“Labor Exchange 2009” will be organized

Higher education Mongolian graduates who studied overseas are finding it difficult to find an appropriate job in Mongolia. It is important that successful graduates from famous universities should be located at the suited job places. Therefore, “Labor Exchange 2009” is being organized by the Mongolian Youth Federation. It will take place on the 8-9th of August at the yarmag of Education. Over 120 successful graduates from famous universities arrived in Mongolia so far this year.

Water is the main source of our life. It is the main guarantor of our healthy and quality life. Over 1.1 billion people are in short of drinking water.

Greenland is the richest country with its drinking water quota per person, but Kuwait has 10m3 drinking water per person per year. Every Mongolian citizen has 13.739 m3 water per year, which is quite below the world average.

International chess tournament: Global chess – 2009

International chess tournament will be held during the 19-24 of this month. The international chess tournament is organised by Mon Chess club and Mobicom Corp and it will take place at the Chingis hotel. Team of players including grand master B.Khatanbaatar, World’s Chess Association master D.Erkhembayar, international master L.Myagmarsuren and T.Batchimeg will represent Mongolia in this tournament.
