Mongolia Opens Embassy in Australia

Mongolian Embassy officially starts its mission in Canberra. Mongolia and Australia established diplomatic relations on September 15, 1972. In recent years, bilateral trade and educational relation of 2 countries are expanding rapidly.

President N.Enkhbayar will not attend SCO meeting

President N.Enkhbayar cancelled his mission to attend SCO(Shanghai Cooperation Organization) meeting held in Tajikistan. Instead of him, foreign minister S.Oyun will lead our delegates. Official said that president cancelled his mission because of current political situation in Mongolia.

Chinese Defense Minister Visits

Starting today, Mongolia-China consultative meeting on defense sector is to be held in the Ministry of Defense for three days. Lieutenant general M.Borbaatar, State Secretary of Ministry of Defense, other delegates of MD and General Headquarters of Armed Forces of Mongolia and Chinese officials are going to attend the consultative meeting.  Representatives from both Ministries for defense, who gather for the third time, are going to discuss security issues of Asia-Pacific region, state of participation of troops in peace-keeping activities and present situation of defense relations of the two. At the end of the meeting an aid agreement to be granted by the Ministry of Defense of China to Mongolia shall be signed.

S.Bayar meets with Chinese leaders and encourages Mongolian sportsmen

Prime Minister S.Bayar visited Beijing on the 23rd of August to hold meetings with Chinese state leaders and attend the XXIX Summer Olympic closing ceremony. He held meetings with Wen Jiabao, Premier of State Council of the People’s Republic of China and Xi Jinping, Vice-Presdient of China on the 23rd and 24th of August and attended the dinner hosted by Hu Jintao, President of China respecting foreign state heads and leaders to take parts in the Olympic closing ceremony. Wen Jiabao, Xi Jinping and Hu Jintao expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Mongolia for the encouragement for Beijing 2008 Olympics and congratulated on successful participation of Mongolian sportsmen in the Olympics.

During these meetings, present state and future perspectives of bilateral cooperation and relations issues were addressed. S.Bayar brought up the issues related to accelerating projects on importing petroleum products from China, processing crude oil, which is to be imported from the third country, namely Kazakhstan, in China, getting end products, building large-scale thermal plant on the basis of Shivee Ovoo coal mine and exporting electricity and called for attention on getting results on these matters. Chinese premier meets Mongolian PM

Xinhua reports that,

BEIJING, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) — Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met here Sunday with Mongolian Prime Minister Sanj Bayar, who is here to attend the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games.

“The attendance of Mongolian president to the opening ceremony and your attendance to the closing ceremony showed the importance Mongolia attached to the Beijing Olympic Games, as well as the Mongolian people’s deep affection for the Chinese people,” Wen said.

He congratulated the Mongolian athletic team on making a historic breakthrough at the Games.

Mongolia’s Tuvshinbayar Naidan beat Askhat Zhitkeyev, of Kazakhstan, in the men’s 100kg class judo on Aug. 14, winning Mongolia’s first Olympic gold medal in 44 years. (more…)

Mongolia, Monaco sign cooperative deal on culture, environmental protection

Xinhua reports that,

ULAN BATOR, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar met with visiting Prince Albert II of Monaco here Friday to discuss issues related to mutual cooperation.

Following the meeting, the two leaders signed an agreement to boost cooperation in the field of culture and environmental protection.
Enkhbayar said the Monacan head of state’s visit will enhance exchanges between the two nations, which established bilateral relations in May this year.

Prince Albert, who arrived for a two-day visit Friday, said Monaco hopes to increase cooperation with Mongolia in various fields.

Base structure for railways is to be built

It is considered that it was proper to grant the permission to Mongol Alt LLC to build railway base structure from coal mine in Nariin Sukhait in Gurvan tes soum, Umnugobi province to the border port Shivee Huren. It directs R.Rash, Minister for Road, Transport and Tourism to conclude agreements related to the construction of railways and to inspect its realization and implementation. Investment matters related to the construction and use shall be taken care by the company and not less than 51 percent of the constructions shall be transferred to state in ten years since the use of the railways and at the reimbursement of expenses.

Briefly:

•It is considered that it would be proper to conclude a memorandum on mutual understanding between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the Principality of Monaco to collaborate in cultural sector.

•Got acquainted with the project on constructing coal mine and electric power plant complex on the basis of Shivee Ovoo coal deposit and exporting electricity to China.

Credentials are handed over to P.Sundev

Credential letter was handed over to P.Sundev, Ambassador Extraordinary Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Vietnam. President N.Enhbayar highlighted that Vietnam was an influential ASEAN membership and therefore it was essential to open cooperation opportunities bilaterally and regionally, extend bilateral economic relations and exchange information. “There are a lot of lessons to learn from Vietnam, which successfully attracts promising foreign investments. There are Mongolian students studying in Vietnam. In the future, attach attention on specifying academic majors”, suggests the President.

Mongolia tied diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1954. Mongolian citizens could visit Vietnam without visa if holding diplomatic and official passports and those with ordinary passport and invitation could visit without visa. As of this year, 47 Mongolian students study in Vietnam whilst 15 Vietnamese students in Mongolia. GDP rate per capita is USD 2600 in Vietnam. (more…)

Mongolian PM hails Beijing Games as fabulous chapter in Olympic history

ULAN BATOR, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) — The Beijing Games will write a fabulous chapter in Olympic history, Mongolian Prime Minister Sanj Bayar said in an interview with Xinhua on Thursday.

“I felt excited when watching the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games and the audience in the Bird’s Nest (National Stadium) that night must have been overwhelmed by the strong visual impact of the performance,” said Bayar, who will attend the Games’ closing ceremony Sunday.

“With advanced modern technology, the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics has successfully displayed China’s time-honored history and splendid culture to the world,” he said. (more…)

Mongolia names Nasreen Awal Bangladesh Consul

Dhaka, Aug 21 (bdnews24.com) – Mongolia has appointed Nasreen Fatema Awal as its Honorary Consul for Bangladesh, a foreign ministry official said.

Nasreen Fatma Awal is president of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh (WEAB) and the only woman CIP (Commercially Important Person) in the country.

Synonymous with its most famous son Ghengis Khan, who founded the greatest Land Empire the world has ever seen and conquered much of China as well as lands to the west, Mongolia is a massive country of 1.5 million square kilometres. (more…)
