“The Mongolian Geology and Mineral Forum” was held

“Mining and geology can’t be separated. But the Government paid much attention on mining sector, ignoring geology one” concluded participants of “The Mongolian Geology and Mineral Forum”. Representatives of 42 companies and scholars attended the Forum, jointly organized by the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, Mineral resource Authority, The Mongolian Mining Geology Association, The Mongolian Geologists’ Association, The National University of Mongolia and Geology School of University of Science. Miners might wait longer

The Law on prohibiting mineral explorations in forest reserves and river basins, passed by the Parliament on July 2009 creates puzzling scene in the mining sector. According to the Law, MRAM is supposed to realize this law within 16th of this month, withdrawing licenses permitted within 200m from forest reserves and water basins. Due to a reason that data from Forest and Water Authorities are insufficient, MRAM caused miners await. However there is a prediction that the state will be responsible for a large license payment upon withdrawal of 600-700 licenses. Read the rest of this entry »

The Government promised to decrease air pollution by 50%

But in doing so it will spend ₮180 billion in next seven years

When the budget, fighting against air pollution in Ulaanbaatar City, increase, smoke in City increase accordingly. Mongolia ranks No1 in the world with its air pollution. Last Friday, the Government debriefing was held at SGK’s Government hour on Resolution No 46 of the State Great Khural on decreasing air pollution in Ulaanbaatar City.

According to the GSK regulation, minority representatives should question the Government, but other MPs took the challenge and made many questions.

MP N.Ganbyamba: I understood that many people are in charge of this big issue, but zero result. In the report, it says that ₮6.2 billion is already spent for this purpose. But, in reverse, smoke and air pollution in UB were increased by 28%. What is the main logic of spend more and deteriorate the condition? Read the rest of this entry »

Falcon export would be suspended in next two years.

Prime Minister S.Batbold ordered to the Ministry of Environment and Tourism to organize activities of halting falcon export, counting falcon population and maintaining its population balance.
In accordance with the given direction, the Ministry has developed project. As for this year, 292 falcons are planned for sale and 8 for gift.

If the Government makes resolution, falcon capture and sales will be suspended at least for two years. Not only falcons are protected, also fox and corsac hunting would be banned.
