One issue was to build Power Plant V in Ulaanbaatar. Mr. T.Enkhtaivan, Deputy Minister for Mineral Resources and Energy was interviewed.

Q: Where the new power plant will be built and what are the preparatory works?

T.Enkhtaivan: Power Plant will be built at Uliastai. Its infrastructure, communication, railway, road, energy and heating pipes will be decided in complex way.

These can be solved. But the main thing is water research and environmental impact evaluation are not completed. It is second time to announce this project tender bid, therefore it will have two phases. First its feasibility study will be developed and then implementing company can be selected. 7685X and 4969X licenses of Gurvanbulag deposit of Emeelt Mines LLC, a subsidiary company of “Western Prospector”, were suspended for three months by the inspector of the Mongolian Atomic Energy Agency. If the company fails to meet with the requirements set forth by the Atomic Energy Agency, above-mentioned licenses will be cancelled.

Western Prospector owns 90% of Emeelt Mines LLC. These licenses are located in the territory of Dashbalbar, Bayandun and Sergelen soums of Dornod Aimag.

Barilga Sale – 2009

Barilga Sale – 2009 exhibition start today at the “Tekh” construction materials merchandise center. Ministry of road, construction and urban development is also involved in organising this exhibition. The main subject of this exhibition is to find a way out of construction sector crisis, as the organisers have explained briefly. Organisers also say that this exhibition will cut negative trend, build positive environment and support each others to overcome this crisis.

During this fair, information and advices will be provided, lectures and seminars will be held and knowledge and ability of the constructors will be tested through a contest. 284 constructions works and 540 billion MNT of investments are at halt. Read the rest of this entry »

Japan is to implement 39 million US$ project in Mongolia

Government of Japan is to implement two projects in Mongolia with budget of 3 billion 927 million yen (approx. 39 million US$) on projects; Pedestrian bridge in Ulaanbaatar City, Human Resource Development Scholarship. 70% of spring plantation is completed

Spring plantation is undergoing. Fields at Selenge, Darkhan-Uul aimags are quite dry, but they managed to plant 70% of total grain. Also 50% of potato plantation is completed. 12 thousand tons of seed was provided by the Foundation of Supporting Farming and it shows good result in the plantation progress.

Boroo Gold axed its 50 employees

Last Friday, Boroo Gold, a Canadian company, axed its 50 workers. This decision urges another strike of Boroo employees. Right at the moment, management of the company has meeting with its trade union. Over 200 workers of Boroo Gold are on strike at Boroo mine site and they are sitting outside of the mine site fence. Trade Union built a ger outside of the mine site, because nobody is allowed to enter the premise. Manager of the Trade Union A.Bayar disclosed the above-mentioned information.

Working groups of Standing Committee on Economy and SGK combined their comments and conclusions on OT agreement and presented to the Government. MPRP election staff including PM S.Bayar and President N.Enkhbayar congratulate to Mr. Elbegdorj for his victory for the Presidential election. A new President is probable in Mongolia

According to the source of Demparty, candidate Elbegdorj is won the election by 35000 votes, securing his win for the election. It is not the official report of the Election Committee of Mongolia.

In contrast, MPRP announced its press conference at 9.00 am this morning. It regularly reported its win during the night.

Official result of the election will be announced within 5 days after the election, according to the law.

Mongolia is voting for its President

Today is the Presidential Election Day and almost 50% of toatl electors are voted already by 20 pm, according to the source next to the administration.

Two candidates, Elbegdorj from Demparty and Enkhbayar from MPRP, were running their campaing or the President and it is crucial day for the Mongolians and the investors. The Election Committee will count the votes and announce the winner in 5 days after the election. However, only two candidates make the election votes counting much easier than any other elections before.
