Announcement for Mineral License Holders

According to the section 56.1.4 of Minerals Law, authority has a right to cancel exploration license which failed to send a mineral exploration report of 2007. License holders must submit their mining exploration and financial report in order to verify by the Authority. To clarify this information, please see section 33.2, 48.1.2 of Minerals Law.

Chinese Citizen Has Tried to Pass Through Mongolian Border with 2 Absent Nationality Children

Customs officer at Chinggis Khan Airport revealed that Chinese citizen Lou Gao Sin who tried to depart with 2 absent nationality children, on 13, April. “The case is now subject to General Intelligence Agency”, says the person near situation. He arrived in Mongolia on 4, April by the Beijing-Ulaanbaatar flight. During the investigation, officials made clear that 2 child was no connection with Lou Gao Sin. Mongolian, Chinese officials cooperate on the case to clarify 2 children’s nationality.

Wheat Is To Be Procured at Preferential Price

Negotiations were held on wide range of issues such as increasing investment in trade, economy and business sectors, improving efficiencies of joint enterprises, renewing equipments and renovating technologies, jointly using atomic power for peace purposes and extending border trades. At the moment, V.A.Zubkov, Head of Russian Government informed that a decision on supplying 100.0 thousand tons wheat on preferential conditions has been signed. It shall belong to the favorable conditions offered to Mongols if we consider export tariff of wheat is quite high. Also it was promised to procure petroleum, imported by Mongolian entities, at constant price in the near months. The main significance of this negotiation is that Mongols should not be afraid of price growth in gas which in turn affects the increase in commodity goods price adversely. It is sure that maintaining gas price at constant level is a major discount and aid. Issues and arguments related to Russian apartments will no longer be a problem, since Russian side already transferred 7 of them to Mongolia already.

PM S.Bayar Helds a tete-a-tete With V.A.Zubkov

The second day of PM S.Bayar’s official visit to Russia commenced by putting flower wrath at the Memorial to unknown soldiers in the Red Square and then he held a tete-a-tete meeting with V.A.Zubkov, Head of Russian Government. During the meeting, the two exchanged views on perspectives of the near future of bilateral relations, new directions and current problems in bilateral cooperation. After the tete-a-tete meeting, extended negotiation of two Prime Ministers was held. From Mongolian side, S.Oyun, Minister of Foreign Affairs, R.Rash, Minister of Roads, Transport and Tourism, Kh.Narankhuu, Minister of Industry and Trade, Ts.Gankhuyag, Minister of Food and Agriculture and L.Khangai, Ambassador Extraordinary Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Russia and from Russian side, A.V.Gordeev, Minister of Food and Agriculture and Chairman of Mongolia-Russia intergovernmental commission, S.K.Shoigu, Minister if Emeergency, I.E.Levitin, Minister of Transports, A.S.Sokolov, Minister of Culture and Public Media, A.V.Saltanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, S.V.Kirienko, Executive of Rosatom and V.I.Yakunin, President of Russian Railways joint community and other officials attended the talks and negotiations. During the talks, it was noted that Mongolia-Russia joint relations have been extended well in framework of “Moscow declaration” signed by the two Presidents in 2006. The two confirmed agreements on importance of developing relations, maintaining the current level and extending active cooperation in Northeast Asia region.

Mongolia Receives Aid of 40 Million Yuan from China

The president of Mongolia, Mr.Nambaryn Enkhbayar attended to Boao Economic Forum, which held in China’s southern Hainan Province between 11-14 April. During this forum president met with Chinese president mr.Hu Jintao. President Nambaryn Enkhbayar stated that “Mongolia-China bilateral cooperation is still rapidly developing and we are happy to cooperate with China in energy, infrastructure sector.” Chinese president expressed his strong commitment to develop bilateral cooperation. Then he said about China’s decision about the aid of 40 million Yuan to Mongolia. Moreover, two presidents talked on Northeast Asian issues such as six-party talk, global warming, ASEAN agreement, and SCO meeting.

Mongolian Ambassador Presents His Credentials to the President Bush

On 8 April, 2008, His Excellency Kh.Bekhbat, newly appointed Mongolian Ambassador to the USA presented his credentials to President George Bush, marking the beginning of his mission as Mongolian Ambassador to the United States.

During the meeting with Ambassador in Oval Office, president Bush stated, “the agreement on Millenium Challenge Account, which signed in last year, and other USAID programs in Mongolia mean our support for Mongolian Democracy and Freedom.”     

L.Bold Informs to the Mining Congress

Representing the Government of Mongolia, L.Bold, Director of Minerals and Oil Authority of Mongolia lectured at the Asian Mining Congress, held in Singapore. This Congress, which is held annually, is now organized between 7 and 11 April and L.Bold addressed the present and future state as well as policy in mining and oil sector in Mongolia in his lecture. Main issues addressed during the Congress include foreign investment in Mongolia, mining sector transparency and stable legal environment. Also companies such as Canadian invested Rio Tinto, Erdene gold, Chinese invested Xinhua energy Company, operating in Mongolia introduced their activities.

Mongolia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia and India, where major mining projects could be implemented at this time of increasing mining influence on the world market, attended the Congress actively. World attention has been drawn to Asia-the most promising region for mining development, on the basis of their abundant mineral resources. Over 650 delegates, comprising of delegates of mining companies, government institutions and NGOs exchange their views on issues such as strategy, investment, environmental recovery if mining sector and sales of mining products at the world market via international stock exchanges.   

Mongolia Joins Federation of Asia-Pacific Stock Exchanges

Authorities of Mongolian Stock Exchange headed for Asian countries. Director Executive of the Stock Exchange R.Sodkhuu paid an official visit to China with the President of Mongolia N.Enkhbayar to extend SE activities whilst other specialists, headed by Deputy Director S.Davaasambuu left for Malaysia. They are attending the XXVII Forum of Asia-Pacific Stock Exchange Federation. The Forum started today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Attendance in the Forum would be of great significance in extension of Mongolian SE foreign relations. During this period, the issue of Mongolia’s membership to the Federation shall be discussed. Membership to the Federation shall create a lot of opportunities for Mongolia to extend relations with SEs in Asia and Pacific, trading stocks at the international market and exchanging specialists. During the Forum, Mongolian representatives will get acquainted with Malaysian SE, share experiences, sign on cooperation memorandum with Singaporean SE and set further goals.
